Here are some pointers for writing your blurb:

• Write in the third person.

• Keep your bio relatively brief.

• Always feel free to include links to your website or where people can find you on social media (but only social media pages you are comfortable sharing with the public and professionally).

• Generally, don’t include your age unless you are a child prodigy. Even if you are 17 or 18 and you write amazingtastically, you fall into the child prodigy category, because our editors are in their mid-20s, meaning that they’re old.

• There is a difference between saying you live in London and saying that you live at Number Twelve, Grimmauld Place.

• Why not read existing bios for inspiration?

• Fox Hat editors are insufferably editory, and will not hesitate to ask if they can edit your bio, so don’t worry too much.
